Mohican Wind Harps

Wind Harps are sometimes referred to as Aeolian Harps, after Aeolus, the Greek God of Winds.  Wind Harps are played only by the wind -- an 8-12 mph breeze is best. As the wind reaches a certain velocity, the lowest-pitched (thickest) string vibrates; higher pitched notes (thinner strings) come and go as the velocity of the wind increases and decreases, forming a musical chord. The resulting sound is meditative and ethereal.

These 3-sided works of art are designed for outside use throughout the year.

The Single Celtic Basket Harp and Simple Double Twist Harp are available in copper plated steel or semi-gloss black powder coated finishes, and stand 45" tall with a 12" diameter.  The Clinging Vine Harp is available in black only.

Cone at the bottom of the harp is similar to the sound box of a guitar, in that it amplifies the sound.  Cones on the copper harps are copper; cones on the black harps are stainless steel.

Harps come with clear nylon strings.  Blue or red strings are available for an small additional cost; note that color strings will fade to pastel in 2-3 years.  Titanium strings are available for the black powder coated harps only at an additional cost.  Ttitanium strings require less maintenance, ie periodic tightening..

Weight is approximately 18 lbs.

Wind harps transpose the spirit of the wind into spontaneous, multi-layered music in time to nature's rhythms. Their vibrant voices sing pure harmonic tones that range from deep, pulsing bases to soaring sopranos, producing a dynamic yet profoundly relaxing music.
