Lee Coulter

Born in Chicago, Lee eventually settled along the central coast of California in the late 70's, where he began an apprenticeship as a jeweler. After working as a jeweler into the mid 80's, he branched out into sculpture in stone and metals.  Currently, there is work on a series of sculptures using Chinese calligraphy as inspiration, as well as expansion of the kinetic sculpture line.

Each sculpture is handcrafted of copper and brass, insuring a quality that is guaranteed unconditionally.    Wind is caught by copper 'wind cups'.  This work is substantial enough to use on top of a roof, yet the  graceful and hypnotic spinning motion lends an air of elegance wherever it is installed.

All kinetic sculpture is available on a 3' copper pipe stand (with materials for installation in a garden) OR as a hanging piece.

Each tier of the 2 and 3-tier sculptures spin in the opposite direction from the tier above or below. The 2nd and 3rd tiers are formed into 3-dimensional arcs by curved pieces of brass rod.

The center circle is the only design difference option:  Moon, Quail, Hummingbird, Sailboat, Palm Tree, Sun, or Butterfly.   Any of these centers is available on the 2 or 3 tiered designs.

The Moon & Stars, Sun & Butterflies, and Planets are designed in a series of 'U' shapes that nest inside each level below, ie, the piece is almost flat when laid down.  Planets is the only 4-tiered sculpture at this time.  These sculpture are available as shown.
